A New Friend

Henry has a new Occupational Therapist. She was highly recommended to us, and has experience working with children who have Williams Syndrome. Turns out that the therapist is also working with a girl with W.S. who is the same age as Henry. Well, Henry got to meet Savannah yesterday. Lisa wishes that she had brought the camera: It was such a fun introduction:
Savannah: Hi!
Henry: Hi!
Henry: Obey!  (Henry says this A Lot, because he hears it A Lot...)

Savannah: Puts her hands over her ears because Henry is using a LOUD voice.

Savannah: What is your name?

Henry: Three!

What was most fascinating to Lisa was how similar their speech patterns were and that they became instant friends. It was so nice for Lisa to compare notes with a fellow Mom of a W.S. child: Does your child do this? Really? Must be a Williams behavior... Have you experienced this before? You have? You mean we are not the only ones?

It was so interesting for me to hear the description of this little girl who is the same age as my son. We have not come in live contact with any other W.S. families before now. We have read a lot and emailed with other families, but something was special about this first physical meeting. Lisa said it seemed like Savannah and Henry had an instant understanding. They played similarly and related on the same level. I am thankful for that.
