In The Garden

I am pleased with the beginnings of my Fall & Winter garden.
In the cold frame are the "Kwiek" lettuce that did well last year when I started them from seed and transplanted them out at this same time. I hope for a successful repeat.

In addition, I seeded in kale a few months ago, and it is thriving. Lisa has already made a few batches of kale & potato soup. There is something so satisfying about eating a meal made from home grown ingredients.

Lastly, I planted garlic cloves today.
I came across this unknown variety under odd circumstances.
I was given these cloves from a woman who was basically apologizing for her little dog's behavior. (He was harassing Jess obnoxiously as we walked by its house a few weeks ago)
The woman had just harvested a bunch of garlic that she was giving out to neighbors. As a way to be friendly after her dog acted un-diplomatically, she offered me a few cloves for my trouble.
I will plant these knowing that they grew well for somebody with a bad-mannered dog across town.
