Ten Things About This One

1. He listens to music attentively, with a thoughtful and serious expression. And then, all of a sudden, he may join the chorus of a familiar tune with his little earnest voice. Pandora is our friend.

2. After a particularly good, solid nap, he may get out of bed, yawn, and scratch his belly, like a little old man.

3. When we go in to his room to check on him at night, he often reaches up to pull us close to his face for a kiss.

4. My favorite mornings are when I see him waving to me from the window as I walk down the street. Sometimes he also comes out to holler "Bye, Papa!" to me. It makes me smile.

5. He is proud of his accomplishments. He loves to show what he has learned.

6. He at times has a jaunty, scarecrow type of run that he does when he experiences a burst of energy and enthusiasm. It is one of my favorite sights.

7. He has a silent way of asking for permission. If he wants to go down a path or store aisle, at times he will look at us and point in the direction he wants to go. If we nod our permission, he happily scampers down the path of choice. If we shake our head, he will (most of the time) come back to us.

8. His eyes are crescents when he smiles.

9. He is beginning to experience the joys of pestering his younger brother (who provides the most dramatic and satisfying squalls when pestered).

10. I love him.
