Hands

Williams Syndrome can make a child wary of certain sensory experiences. When he was very young, Henry did not like his hands being held. He would pull away from our grasp. Lisa had to encourage me, telling me not to take it personally; He would just take more time than another child to be comfortable with that experience. Can you imagine the amazement and joy I felt when he one day let me hold his hand as we walked through the store? Now I grasp that hand like a precious jewel when he offers it. It is a quiet joy. Here is a video of something that a year ago I would not have imagined possible: Henry wanting me to hold his hands to help him bounce on the couch! We have indeed arrived at a pleasant place.
